Birdwatching in Danube Delta
We offer a professionals guide exciting,
friendly, small and medium-group birding holidays that and
experienced leaders.
These tours are specifically designed for those who want
a focused birding holiday whilst enjoying the chance to
travel to wild and often beautiful parts of the Danube
Delta and Dobrogea. Whilst on tour, there will be also
opportunities to view botanical aspects of this land, to
see mammals and other wildlife too, or to visit cultural
and archaeological sites. Whether you are a beginner or
an expert, as long as you have a strong desire to spend
most of your holiday birding, you will find our tours to
your liking. Our guides are extremely competent ornithologists and
botanists (often both), with a sound knowledge of the area
being visited and its birds. Because they live there. We
care about your interest and we think that the guides are
one of the important factor in the success of any birdwatching
tour. They are able to manage the logistics of the tour
in such a way that the group members are unaware of the
work going on 'behind the scenes' enabling participants
to enjoy a birding tour.
The programs include mainly cruising tours in Danube Delta,
using floating hotels. The birds are to be seen from the
terrace of these big boats, or in trips using small motorized
or roving boats; also in Dobrogea or on the land in Delta,
the tours will require gentle walking sometimes for periods
of up to half a day. Birdwatching is continuous, of course,
and we rest as necessary. Birdwatching involves some odd
hours and at least a modest amount of physical activity,
and we want all participants to understand fully what is
required. Birds are most active during the first few hours
of daylight, so we make early starts most days. Also, in
the summer time, where the climate is hot, we start very
early too, take the lunch and rest during the heat of the
day; then venture forth again in mid to late afternoon.
Participants will receive in advance a blank daily bird
checklist for the tour, together with an information letter
detailing helpful advice such as health requirements, what
to bring, recommended reading, indications of the daily
routine of the tour (i.e. whether its pace is slow, medium
or fast), etc. At the end of each tour, a feedback form
is provided so that tours can constantly be improved
